Safeguarding Policy
Our commitment to protecting children, young people and adults from abuse, exploitation, harassment and avoidable harm across the BAN Community.
Last updated: 25 September 202601Purpose
Basketball should be a safe environment for participation, learning, competition and development. This policy sets the minimum safeguarding expectations for BAN Community members, administrators, coaches, academies, officials, media contributors and partners using BAN services.
02Who we safeguard
- Children and young people, including players under 18.
- Adults who may be at increased risk of harm or exploitation.
- All members who may experience harassment, discrimination, abuse, coercion, stalking, exploitation or other unsafe conduct.
03Our core standards
- Respect dignity, privacy, boundaries and the right to say no.
- Never use a position of authority to exploit, threaten, manipulate or pressure another person.
- Never sexualise, groom, exploit or solicit inappropriate contact with a child or young person.
- Use appropriate communication channels and professional boundaries when interacting with minors.
- Do not share a child's private information, location, contact details or images outside an appropriate purpose and permission framework.
- Report concerns promptly rather than attempting to investigate serious allegations yourself.
04Youth profiles and Rising Stars
BAN may feature young players in Rising Stars, profiles, stories or highlights. Publication is subject to the platform's verification and moderation rules. For minors, BAN may require parent or guardian involvement and additional consent. Private verification information, contact details and other restricted data should not be displayed publicly.
05Reporting a concern
If you believe someone is at immediate risk of serious harm, contact the appropriate emergency or law-enforcement service first. For concerns involving the BAN platform or a member, contact info@all-in.com.ng or +234 806 546 0635 and state that the matter is a safeguarding concern. Include the relevant profile, content, event, date and facts you can safely provide. Do not circulate allegations publicly.
06How reports are handled
BAN may restrict content or access while a concern is assessed. Information is shared only with people who need it for safeguarding, moderation, legal or operational reasons, subject to applicable law. BAN may preserve relevant records, contact guardians or organisations where appropriate, and refer matters to competent authorities when required or justified.
07Coaches, academies and organisations
Organisations using BAN to recruit, showcase or develop young athletes remain responsible for maintaining appropriate safeguarding practices in their own programmes, facilities and activities. Platform verification does not replace an academy's or coach's legal, professional or duty-of-care obligations.
08Prohibited behaviour
- Child sexual exploitation or grooming.
- Sexual harassment or inappropriate sexual communication.
- Physical, emotional or psychological abuse.
- Bullying, intimidation, threats, discriminatory abuse or targeted harassment.
- Financial exploitation, coercive recruitment or fraudulent representation.
- Unauthorised disclosure or misuse of a child's personal information or images.
09Training and continuous improvement
BAN will develop safeguarding guidance, moderation procedures and educational resources as the community grows. Policies may be strengthened in response to incidents, legal requirements, professional standards or lessons learned.
